Karaoke related FAQs:

Q: What is a CDG file?

A: CD+G files (*.cdg) are special files that contain song lyrics and synchronization data only. Just as MP3 is a way to store the audio of a CD+G disc, a CDG file is a way to store the graphics portion. A CD+G is a special Audio Compact disc that contains graphics data in addition to the audio data on the disc. The disc can be played on a regular Audio CD player, but when played on a special CD+G player, can output a graphics signal (typically, the CD+G player is hooked up to a television set).

 Q: What is Mp3+G?

A: The MP3+G consists of two audiofiles, the Mp3 audio track and a separate cdg file that contains the graphic data in .bmp format. These two files combined occupy much less disc space than a standard CDG track. The two files of an MP3+G (one with a .cdg extension and one with a .mp3 extension) must have exactly the same "basename" (for example "nessun_dorma.mp3" and "nessun_dorma.cdg").

Q: Do you make and send custon CDs to your customers?

A: No, at this time we sell in our site only downloadable products. Anyway, as explained below, it's quite simple to create by yourself custom Cds using our products.

Q: I've downloaded the karaoke pack. Can I create a CD+G disk now?

A: Yes. You need a program called MP3+G Toolz, a cd-burner and a burning program (CDRWin or Alcohol 120%).
A good resource on this argument is Karaoke Tutor in which you will find how to create CDG discs from MP3+G

Q: What kind of program do I need to use to play cdg files on my computer?

A: You need a program like Karaoke Builder Player (freeware) or Karafun (Even better, it allows you to cange the tempo/pitch) in realtime). Simply download, install and run it; open your cdg file (remember that the corresponding mp3 file has to be in the same directory) and that's it! Macintosh users can download a program like Kjams Lite; the Lite version (free) has all the feature you need.

Q: Can I play CD+G disks on my standalone DVD player?

A: Nearly all DVD Players are NOT compatible with the CDG disks, the audio track has non problem but the video track with the word imagines can't be read. If you wish to see your CD+G disk that you have made on your TV at home, you must have a karaoke player or one of the few DVD players that read the CDG format, or convert the cdg disk into a normal VCD (VideoCD), or simply connect your computer to the television with a Tv-out cable and do karaoke.

Q: When I try to play the cdg file I only see the words but there is no music. How come?

A: Remember that the cdg files contain only images of the words, the music resides on the mp3 files. the role of the CD+G Player is to read and reproduce together cdg files and mp3 and to sync them. For this reason it is essential that the two files have the same name (eg. nessundorma.mp3 and nessundorma.cdg) and that they are found in the same directory. If you still have problems it could depend on the sound card configuration (eg. volume set to zero etc.)

Q: I would like to karaoke with both the piano accompaniment and the “vocal line” track (or “diction track”) simultaneously. How can I do this?

A: Using Audacity you must create a new audiofile in which the piano accompanimet track and the "vocal line" track are joined together (this operation is called "audio mixdown").

You can also follow our step-by step tutorial.

Q: How can I do karaoke following the vocal line track?

A: All you have to do is to rename the file with extension cdg giving it the name of the audiotrack you want to reproduce with the subtitles. To rename the file, select it with the right mous button and select the "Rename" option.

Q: I've downloaded your karaoke pack. Now, how can I create a karaoke VCD?

A: You have to convert your CD+G disk into a normal VCD disk. You can download a shareware program which makes this kind of conversion or you can follow this guide (only freeware programs).

Q: When I fast-forward the cdg files the player goes out of sync. Why?

A: It happens sometimes when you use mp3 files encoded in variable bitrate (VBR). Our arias are encoded at constant bitrate (CBR), so this inconvenience should not appear.
